Give me wings

At the beginning of his journey, Yuusuke is aware of the power behind the "deity scars" in his arms, a mysterious power said to be granted to him by the phoenix deity of fire. This power, once believed to be a blessing to many, soon becomes a threat in the eyes of the new ruler, and together with his new army of federation soldiers, he convinces the people of his kingdom that those marked with the "deity scars" are dangerous and up to no good. The ones marked by "deity scars" are sent to be captured by the king and if they resist, the federation will not hesitate to kill them. A rebellion group breaks out to oppose the new orders of the king, the kingdom divides among those who support the rebellion and those who support their king, a kingdom once united under a good king and the belief of the powerful deities and their chosen ones, soon breaks into war. Yuusuke remained hidden under the care of a very loved family friend, who trained him to use his "deity scars" of fire, until one day, everything changed.

Yuusuke would train often, but without proper training, his powers couldn't increase in strength. He felt weak and worthless, always unable to do anything to help out in the war or to help out those he loved and those that needed help. Hurt and broken, Yuusuke couldn't help but cry in frustration, questioning the phoenix deity, why she had chosen him to bear the "deity scars" of fire, instead of someone stronger. The young boy, with bright red hair as the phoenix, only wished to be stronger and fight back.

I had a lot of fun with this piece ^^ I've been wanting to work on different expressions for Yuusuke for a while and I'm really happy with the way this one came out! : D Yuusuke often portrays a tough attitude but he is still young, and once he's had enough anger and frustration inside him, he will occasionally grit his teeth in fury as tears flow down his eyes. I'm hoping to work more on showing these different sides to Yuusuke and with the start of the new year, I'm also hoping to soon start my comic for this story, along with my sister Hope you all enjoy! ^^
